SEO is like planting a tree. You can't plant a seed today and expect a full blown oak tree tomorrow. Website owners need to nurture their site much like they would nurture a seed as it sprouts into a tree. Over time your website, much like a tree, will be flourishing and generating the type of traffic you need to succeed.
