Peeling Back the Onion: Metrics that Matter to a Good Search Engine Optimization Company

by Scott Buresh

The first thing we hear in terms of search engine optimization - a company wants to be in that coveted top spot on Google, Yahoo!, Ask, and MSN. No matter the industry or specialty, when companies approach us with their desired goals for an SEO campaign, it's usually all about improving their rankings and positions ... and often nothing else.

Why shouldn't I do my search work in-house?

by Mike Moran

As someone who has helped search marketers build up their in-house search resources for years, you might think that there are never any reasons that I'd recommend using an agency. But you'd be wrong. That is just so right on. Don't you think that people don't tune into conversion enough? We hear this same thing all the time: I need to be on page 1 for this term. But we often wonder: "Will that term really convert for them?" We always recommend running a pilot paid search campaign prior to doing any SEO. For people who really understand how long SEO takes, and that it is months and sometimes years until the desired effect, it seems really smart to know you will be making money with the term.
